NATURAL HEALING

After many years of emotional processing and engaging more with the natural world, I’m investigating new themes with my artwork. The images come from working in the realm of dreams, fears and the messy process of healing and growth as a woman in the modern world.

URBAN LANDSCAPEs

I've always loved architecture, and the built environment.  I’ve spent my whole adult life in Chicago and am absolutely in love with the vibe of city life, anxieties and all. The city has had as much of an impact on my work as anything else has, it’s mysterious alchemy can still lead to moments of pure magic even amidst the general chaos of city life. I love using art as a way to highlight and appreciate architectural details that may otherwise be missed in the busy pace of city life.

and beyond…

I’ve also lived in other places, and travelled a good deal in my life, and am often found with a sketchbook on my vacations, working to capture not only my surroundings but also the feel of a place. I’ve travelled and made art in Maine, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Michigan’s Upper Penninsula, Detroit and Italy.

LIVING THE SWEET LIFE!

I worked at Chicago-famous bakery Sweet Mandy B's for years at the front counter, taking cake orders, slicing pies, and writing "Happy Birthday!" on many a cake. Of course this sweet place found its way into my artwork and I created a body of work about sugar, with select pieces currently hanging in the bakery.

My work was featured in a Humira commercial that was shot at Sweet Mandy B’s. It’s aired on all the major networks, so there’s a good chance you’re seen it!

Many of these works are available as originals or prints for sale in the webshop.
Life is short so... eat dessert first! ;)

Cats

I’m a cat lover, and have had cats in my life over the years, so have made a body of work just about cats! Cats have their own personalities, vices, values (mostly napping), and favorite activities. I’ve tabled at cat conventions, Pop Cats and loved getting to meet cats and connect with other cat lovers.

Tools of the trade

Many people ask me what type of paint I use, and I love to work primarily in gouache. It is a bright, opaque paint, similar to watercolor. I will sometimes use pencil, since my first love as an artist was drawing.
